Nearest parking: Astley Book Farm and Coffee Shop, is the largest second-hand bookshop in the West Midlands, holding over 75,000 books. It provides a great place to refresh and prepare for your ride ahead.
The section: North Warwickshire’s industrial heritage is evident as you journey around some of the ex-mining villages of North Warwickshire. Look out for remnants from the areas mining heritage including the winding wheel on the roundabout in Ansley. The Royal Oak public house in Hartshill and the Lord Nelson in Ansley Village are ideal for a refuel. There are also toilets, café and beautiful views around Hartshill Hayes Country Park if you have time to explore.
The terrain: The main crossroads along the B4102 requires some caution for cyclists. Then as you leave Galley Common, Plough Hill has 2 steep climbs that are relatively back-to-back and then School Lane, Hartshill offers the steepest hill climb of the route which lasts around ¼ mile up to Hartshill.
