The section: Cycling ‘up high’ through the ancient woodland area of the Forest of Arden, the panoramic views provide some very picturesque views through the villages of Maxstoke, Fillongley and Corley Moor. It provides a reminder that the Forest once covered the majority of Warwickshire. There is an opportunity to take a pit stop at the two delightful pubs in Corley Moor, the Bull and Butcher and Red Lion.
The terrain: As soon as you come out of Maxstoke there is a long steady climb which is quite steep in parts. Coming off Green End Lane there is a single track lane with a slight descent. You will then emerge onto the B4102, Meridan Road and this road can be busy at times on approach to the Heart of England Conference Centre. From Chapel Green into Corley Moor there is a steady climb along Wall Hill Road.
