What is not treated as a complaint?
There are some matters that will not be investigated under the Council’s Feedback Policy, which are outlined in the policy and some examples are provided below:
- Requests for Service, including reports of Anti-Social Behaviour
- Matters that do not fall under the responsibility of the Council, e.g. Highways and Social Care.
- Where the persistent or vexatious contact or vexatious complaints procedure has been invoked (full details of which can be found in the Feedback Policy)
- Any complaint reports more than six months after the incident or issue occurred
- Complaints relating to Freedom of Information (FOI), Environment Information Regulations (EIR), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Data Protection legislation, including data breaches.
- Matters where there is a right of appeal, including planning decisions, homelessness decisions (for a full list please see the Feedback Policy)
Anonymous complaints are not usually accepted, however, there may be some exceptions, for instance if a matter is serious and there is a clear reason for the complainant to remain anonymous.
