Report a Breach

To allow the enforcement officers to start an effective investigation we will require as a minimum the following information:

  • Your name and contact information (your details will be kept confidential)
  • The precise location of the alleged breach (if not an address then a google map location or screen shot should be provided)
  • Any contact information you have for the parties responsible for the alleged breach
  • The reason you believe there is a breach of planning control
  • The approximate date the alleged breach commenced
  • The harm the breach is causing you and or the local area
  • Any evidence of the breach if you have them (photographs, time logs of deliveries/visitors, website links etc)

If there is insufficient information provided to allow for an initial investigation to commence, the report will be rejected and you will be asked to resubmit with the relevant information again.

Please note anonymous or fictitious reports will not be investigated!

The simplest way to report a breach is by using the link to the online form below:

Report a Breach

Alternatively, you can email your concerns (containing the information as requested above) to planningenforcement@northwarks.gov.uk, or in writing for the attention of Planning Enforcement, North Warwickshire Borough Council, The Council House, South Street, Atherstone, Warwickshire, CV9 1DE.

Even though your details will be kept confidential and will not be disclosed without your knowledge, we cannot prevent individuals subject to an investigation from making their own assumptions. These assumptions will not be validated by the investigating officers. If you still have concerns with confidentiality due to pre-existing neighbour tensions you may wish to speak to your parish council or ward councillor, to see if they will make the report on your behalf. However, we will only update the party who has made the written submission to the Borough Council.

Once a valid report has been submitted it will be acknowledged within 3 working days and a letter issued detailing the case officer. For further information about what happens after a report has been made and the potential outcome of an enforcement investigation please read our Enforcement Plan.
