Supporting Communities (Focus Area 6)

Achieving Net-zero and halting climate change requires everyone to play their part. The Council has a leading role to play, but by encouraging and supporting residents, businesses, visitors and others to reduce emissions we can amplify our effect and create a low carbon North Warwickshire for everyone.

What the Council needs to do

  • Support local communities to deliver low carbon projects and climate adaption initiatives
  • Communication of key messages and advice for residents, groups and businesses
  • Promote localism and encourage greater community involvement and action at a local level

What we are doing

Communications

The Council has created resources on the Council’s website as a way to share the work the Council is involved with to reduce emissions, but also sharing information on grants for residents and businesses, local projects and organisations to reduce emissions locally and sharing ways everyone can reduce emissions in their own lives.

Need met - Communication of key messages and advice for residents, groups and businesses.

Climate mailbox

The Council has created a Climate mailbox for residents to contact the Council directly with proposals for local carbon projects. The mailbox is reviewed by the Council's officers and provides residents the opportunity to provide input, wishes and direction to climate action in our area.

Need met - Promote localism and encourage greater community involvement and action at a local level
