Help with your rent deposit
The Housing Advice and Options Service offers free and friendly advice on housing issues. This service is open to all the community in the Borough of North Warwickshire.
Do you need help and support finding private rented accommodation?
- Are you homeless or threatened with homelessness?
- Are you looking for private rented accommodation?
- Are you unable to afford the deposit?
- Are you on a low income and/or claiming benefits and entitled to housing benefit?
- Do you live within the Borough of North Warwickshire?
- Are you able to live on your own in a privately rented property?
- If you are single with no children, are you over 25?
If you have answered yes to all of these questions you might be entitled to join the Council’s Rent Deposit Scheme.
The Scheme can offer:
- Information on private renting and accommodation
- Assistance finding a private rented property
- A ‘Deposit Guarantee’ in the form of a paper bond
- Housing Benefit advice and help with the completion of Housing Benefit Forms
What would potential tenants have to do?
- Save up for your own bond during your tenancy with 'New Way Credit Union'
- Agree for your Housing Benefit to be paid direct to your landlord
- Keep to the terms of your tenancy agreement
- Respect your neighbours
- Co-operate with the Rent Deposit Scheme officers
- Refund any money that the bond scheme pays on your behalf (If there is a claim made on the bond when you leave your tenancy)
