Repairs

Your landlord or letting agent is responsible for most of the repairs in your home. Your landlord should not enter your home without your agreement even if they have given you advance notice.  

If they need to access your home, they should: 

  1. Give you at least 24 hours’ notice in writing 
  2. Arrange with you a suitable time to visit

Your landlord or letting agent must: 

  1. Arrange a gas safety check every 12 months by a ‘Gas Safe’ registered engineer 
  2. Make sure wiring and electrical appliances are safe 
  3. Provide smoke alarms on each floor and carbon monoxide detectors in any room with a coal fire or wood burning stove
