A planning application for a manufacturing and research park on the MIRA site to the south of the A5 was supported at the Council’s Planning and Development Board meeting on 5th February 2024.
The park will provide around 2,500 advanced manufacturing and high quality jobs in the automotive research and manufacturing industries. The development was proposed by North Warwickshire Borough Council in its 2021 Local Plan which won a national award as the best Local Plan in the country. Increasing the number and variety of jobs in future industries is a key part of North Warwickshire Borough Council’s Economic Development plan to keep the Borough as one of the most vibrant economies.
More than 40 major companies are based at the park such as Bosch, Toyota, Jaguar Land Rover and Polestar, with the opportunity to use a mix of 40 test facilities.
Councillor Mark Simpson, the Chairman of Planning Board said, “ The Council wholeheartedly welcomes this significant boost to the number of advanced manufacturing jobs in the Borough and to supporting the future of the national centre of technology that MIRA has become. The proposals will also provide highway improvements which will benefit residents living in Caldecote as well providing environmental benefits for the wider area.”
