Lost dogs
If you have lost your dog please contact our contact centre on 01827 715341 AND Birmingham Dogs Home on 0121 643 5211 to report it as missing. You can also report your dog missing online below.
What happens if we find stray dogs
If your dog is found and secured, the council will arrange for Birmingham Dogs Home to collect the dog. If it is the first time your dog has been found, and your dog has a collar and tag (as required by law), or microchip (with up to date details) that shows where it lives, then an attempt will be made to contact you and arrange collection.
The dog may be re-homed after eight days if no communication is received from the owner. Unfortunately, in some cases of very old, very aggressive, or ill dogs, new homes cannot be found and the dog has to be put to sleep.
All stray dogs are taken to the council's kennels which are provided by Birmingham Dogs Home.
Opening hours of our kennels

Once the dog has been taken to the kennels, it is the owners responsibility to collect the animal and make payment to the kennels. If your dog requires veterinary attention whilst in our care, you will be liable to those charges as well.
The kennels will provide you with an official receipt.
Payment needs to be made directly to Birmingham Dogs Home whilst collecting your dog. Payment can be made by cash, debit card or credit card. Payment must be made in full. We do not offer a payment plan or reduced rate for those in receipt of benefits. Cheques will NOT be accepted.
