What is NW Connect and Learn?
This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills. NW Connect and Learn
Helping you to get online and save money and time!
Learn My Way is a ‘free’ online learning platform that helps people build basic digital skills and improve their confidence to use the internet. The bite-sized topics are suitable for beginners that have no or low digital skills, allowing everyone to benefit from using digital devices and accessing essential online services.
You can learn at YOUR own pace…. with the help and guidance of a tutor.
You can use your own equipment or use the laptops and tablets that will be provided.
If you struggle with reading, headphones will be available as the modules can be spoken to you. Please just ask us.
The sessions are informal and a great opportunity to meet new people, learn a new skill and ‘get online’ and have a chat over a free cuppa!
Learn My Way will give you confidence to do the following:
- How to use a computer or device: using a keyboard, using a mouse, using a touchscreen
- Online basics: using the internet, using online forms, using email
- Office programs: introduction to office programs, creating documents, creating spreadsheets
- More internet skills: video calling, online shopping, socialising online
- Online safety: keeping your device safe, being safe online, keeping your personal data safe
- Finding a job online: job hunting online, the National Careers Service website – a how to guide, jobs and interviews
- Improving your health online: GP services online – a how to guide, the NHS website – a how to guide
- Managing your money online: online and mobile banking, make money work
- Public services online: using public services online, Universal Credit (UC)– a how to guide
You can just ‘drop-in’ if you need help with your mobile!
- We can help you to download ‘apps’ and help you to use them!
- We can help you to take a screen shot and upload the picture
- We will do our best to help with any questions you might have.
NW Connect and Learn will run alongside Money, Money, Maths (MMM), a cost-of-living project funded by DWP.
There will be 3 workshops to help you manage your money better and make it go further during these difficult times.
The workshops will cover:
- Saving Energy and the planet
- Shop for less
- Balancing your budget
